I'm all for keeping all the NBA Teams in the Eastern and Western Conference unless we're talking about a merger to form one huge conference. I'm more in favor of keeping the NBA in the East. I watched the Grizzlies play the Spurs several times this season and never like it. I think the NBA players need to get together and have a few drinks and then start negotiating. The reason why I say this is because the NBA is strictly business. In a different way than the NFL is. The owners are so cheap they can't even afford to pay their players the same as the NFL. This is why I would change the NBA to incorporate the teams that are the best together in one conference. Then the West would have the teams that can't afford to pay players what they should be paid.
I've always said to a ton of people who ask me about NBA. All I can say is that the NBA is just like the NFL. Owners (and teams) are bad about living off the hard work of players. I think that if more people paid attention to what is going on in the NBA, maybe things would change. The NBA is dominated by white-collar sport, and I think that a lot of casual fans would love to see the players play the game their way. I think that the current structure is detrimental to the sport. We don't have a game in which fans could care less about the outcome. They just want to watch a good show.
@ Steve, I think that the broadcast industry will always dominate the entertainment industry. They have advantages and disadvantages. I don’t think that the Internet & the cellular phone industry will ever be able to compete with the broadcast industry. Yes, consumers can go to the Internet and watch movies and TV shows, as well as listen to music, get news, etc., but if you want to watch a nationally televised football game, you will continue to watch it on your TV set. As long as the broadcast industry remains, so too will the revenues that it generates.
It may be that in 5 to 10 years time, I will not watch any TV at all. I may think that all TV shows are on some download site, and not view any TV if I can get the content for free. But I will never be able to live without watching some form of entertainment. So I will at least watch what I pay for. But at the moment, the TV series that I want to watch is not free. In most cases, it is not even available to watch in Australia for free. 827ec27edc
